Hollyoaks star Ali Bastian beams as she cradles blossoming baby bump in sweet snap

Ali Bastian is looking healthy and glowing as she prepares to welcome her second child into the world this year.

The former Hollyoaks actress, 40, took to social media over the weekend to look back on 2022 and share a snap of her blossoming baby bump, after announcing her latest pregnancy to fans in September last year.

Ali – who shares a two-year-old daughter with husband David O' Mahony – looked lovingly at her blossoming bump while wearing a nursing bra and maternity leggings for the snap shared on her Instagram page on New Year's Eve.

The Strictly Come Dancing star captioned her last post of 2022: "Happy NY. Hope you all have a lovely evening whatever you are planning. We are very much in hibernation mode and fairly sure I won’t be awake at midnight …

"In my 34th week now…. Eeeeek!! It’s flying. Cannot wait to meet you baby girl (but WILL wait another few weeks, so you can please stay just where you are for now!)"

The mum-to-be added: "Still feel like I have so much preparation to do and all I want to do is sleep and eat. Wish you all the love, luck and happiness in the world for ‘23."

Ali, who played Becca Dean on Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks until 2007, accidentally revealed the gender of her unborn baby in November last year.

The former Doctors actress and husband David already share two-year-old daughter Isla and are set to welcome another little girl into their household.

When talking about her pregnancy journey with her second child during a podcast interview, Ali accidentally referred to her baby as "her" which was quickly followed by: "Ahh I've given it away!"

"I'm pregnant with a little girl, another little girl," Ali confirmed when speaking to her cousin Emma Jaulin on their new podcast Mum Talk.

"It was bound to happen that I'd blurt it out. But we've known for a while.

"I don't know why we kept it a secret, it was just one of those things we kept quiet about for a bit."

Ali's first experience of motherhood began just as the country entered a national lockdown, thanks to the star giving birth to daughter Isla in March 2020 just as the Covid-19 pandemic was beginning to hit its first peak.

Speaking shortly before welcoming Isla into the world, Ali admitted quitting BBC daytime soap Doctors helped her fall pregnant with her daughter.

Ali made her final appearance as her character Becky Clarke in medical soap at the start of November 2019 but filmed her final scenes weeks before her on-screen exit.

"I've slowed down my schedule a lot lately. Doctors has a long delay between filming and air date so I actually filmed my last episode before I fell pregnant," Ali explained to OK! magazine last year.

"David and I knew we wanted to try for a baby and I had been working at such a pace. But once I slowed down, I fell pregnant pretty quickly. It was as if my body was crying out for a break."
