Hollyoaks actress Jennifer Metcalfe has confirmed her shock split from former Geordie Shore star Greg Lake after an eight year relationship.
Jennifer, most famous for playing Mercedes McQueen in the Channel 4 soap, had been dating Geordie Shore original Greg for eight years, with the couple having son Daye together.
So it came as a big surprise at the weekend when Jennifer took to Instagram to reveal they'd called time on their relationship some time ago.
She posted a note with a blank caption which read: "Greg and I decided to part ways amicably a couple months ago. We remain friends and we both will continue to happily co parent Daye and would appreciate privacy during these times."
Her next Instagram post was a throwback to taking some time away with her Hollyoaks pals Nadine Mulkerrin, 27, and Sinead Moynihan, 38.
Jennifer posted: "Dreaming of sunnier days @nadinemulkerrin @sineadbm1 all the belly laughs and putting the world to rights a million times over."
Greg, who went into the Geordie Shore house alongside the likes of Gaz Beadle and Vicky Pattison in 2011, took to Instagram to post an almost identical statement to Jennifer, writing: "Jen and I decided to part ways amicably a couple months ago.
"We remain friends and we both will continue to happily co parent Daye and would appreciate privacy during these times. "Thank you to everyone who has supported us before, during and after this."
Comments were disabled on both of their posts. Greg last posted a picture of him and now ex Jennifer together in March to celebrate Mothers' Day.
