Hollyoaks fans in tears as Nancy falls apart in devastating aftermath to Kyle's suicide

Hollyoaks aired heartbreaking scenes on Tuesday night, as Nancy Hayton learned the devastating news her fiancé Kyle Kelly had taken his own life.

Kyle's suicide was not shown in the episode, but the character was seen struggling to cope before being found by friend Darren Osborne in The Hutch.

Darren was seen on the phone hysterical, as he confirmed his friend was dead and had taken his own life.

Tuesday's episode picked up from this moment, as Darren and a police officer arrived at Nancy's to confirm the tragic news.

Nancy was in complete disbelief, numb from shock but also completely unaware her partner had been battling with his mental health.

She lashed out at Darren, as he confessed Kyle had confided him about a suicide attempt he had made when he was younger - as well as years of mental health struggles.

Darren took the moment to finally share his own battle with depression with his family and dad Jack, leaving them shocked and sad that he kept it to himself.

It's then that Nancy broke down, heartbroken to know Kyle had suffered in silence - while Darren blamed himself, feeling he had missed the signs.

Viewers were in tears as the episode went on, and the impact of Kyle's death was shown on the family.

Jack urged his son to be more open with him about his own issues, fearing he could be pushed to the edge like Kyle.

Nancy struggled with her heartache, before remembering Kyle had left her a voicemail a few days ago but told her not to listen to it.

Believing their date earlier on before Kyle died was a goodbye, she played the message back and finally heard Kyle opening up about his own depression.

He talked of darkness and pain, like a "brick wall of misery" that he couldn't get through.

Admitting he hated himself, he begged Nancy for help.

Just days later, Kyle took his own life leaving his loved ones heartbroken and wishing he had told them what was going on.

Taking to Twitter over the heartbreaking scenes, fans praised the show for raising awareness to male suicide, and hoped it would encourage others to speak out.

One fan said: "Wow @Hollyoaks has hit me hard tonight!!! Struggling to watch through tears."
