Hollyoaks star Daisy Wood-Davis says she is ready to get back to work after cutting her maternity leave short just ten days after giving birth.
The 31-year-old soap star and her fiancé Luke Jerdy became proud parents to their son, named Asa, last month.
And while Daisy had planned to take half a year off to take on her role as a new mother, she has done a u-turn and decided to follow other career parents and get straight back to work just over a week after her son was born.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Daisy engaged in a Q&A session with fans and followers where she opened up about her new life as a mum.
Asked when she was planning to return to work, the star – who played Kim Butterfield in Hollyoaks from 2014 to 2018 – said she was: “Already back at it.”
She explained: “I thought I'd have six months off but 10 days after Asa was born I emailed my agent to say I wanted a job sooner than planned. So I'm back auditioning!
“I love what I do & can't wait to have my boy watching me on stage one day.
“I heard some producers are being so much more accommodating to breastfeeding mums too, which is amazing. I'm also really keen to follow other amazing mums in this industry who are paving the way.”
Addressing breastfeeding in more detail, she said: “Breastfeeding is by farrrr the hardest part of early motherhood for me.
“I have such a deep level of respect for any breastfeeding mum. It’s been a rollercoaster so far. Some days I love it, some I find it far too taxing on my mental health.
“For something so natural, it really isn’t easy but every time I notice his thighs getting juicer & more biteable I feel such aa sense of pride. My body built that juicy thigh!”
Another fan asked Daisy what she misses most about being pregnant and she replied: “You're gonna laugh ... but feeling sexy. I just loved being pregnant.
“I think pregnant women are so beautiful & I felt so confident in my own skin. The most I have ever!
“Now, I don't feel sexy at all which is such a shame, but I'll get my confidence back.”
Meanwhile, 31-year-old Luke recently shared a snap of himself looking adoringly at his son while holding him up.
The star – who met daisy on the set of Hollyoaks where he played Jesse Donovan from 2016-2020 and popped the question to Daisy in 2019 – shared a gushing statement about being a dad.
He wrote on Instagram last week: “I am loving being a Dad and feel more bonded to Asa every day.
“Lots of people have asked how I feel - it’s difficult to actually stop and check in. Having a newborn is very practical and you are constantly attending to their needs, making sure they are ok and passing them to Mum for a feed.
“I feel like we’ve taken it in our stride - I fully expected to be crying every time I looked at him but there just isn’t time for that.
“I guess it’s because now it isn’t about me, it’s all about him.”
