Hollyoaks confirms surprise suspect in Mercedes McQueen shooting after discovery

Hollyoaks bosses have confirmed the second potential suspect in the Mercedes McQueen shooting storyline, and it might surprise you.

It was recently confirmed that the Channel 4 soap would launch a new whodunnit, with Mercedes being shot after recent events.

With her building up a number of enemies, she'll find herself fighting for her life when one of them tries to kill her in a shocking revenge storyline.

While the soap are keeping the culprit under wraps, they confirmed her own husband Sylver McQueen was the first possible suspect for the crime.

Now, via Metro 's soap newsletter, bosses have revealed the second character who could be the shooter.

It's confirmed James Nightingale could be the mystery attacker after the death of his ex Harry Thompson.

Harry was murdered by serial killer Breda McQueen, after he attempted to flee the village after being wrongly blamed for a recent car accident.

He was in fact framed by Mercedes and secret lover Liam Donovan who caused the crash that left Grace Black in a wheelchair.

Mercedes also threatened to kill Harry if he exposed the truth, before he was killed.

According to the publication, James will discover the truth about his ex and that he was innocent all along - after he encouraged him to plead guilty.

James will then plot revenge for Harry, wanting justice, with Mercedes potentially in his path.

So will he take the ultimate revenge and shoot her, or could he be one of many characters out to get her?

More suspects are expected to be revealed, while the scenes are set to air around the big October stunt.

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6:30pm on Channel 4, with the next episode at 7pm on E4.
