Hollyoaks bosses used genius ‘cheats’ when filming scenes for Mandy and Darren’s wedding.
As the soap continues to film amid the coronavirus pandemic, producers were forced to come up with an array of clever hacks to ensure that cast members maintain social distance from one another.
Lifting the lid on how bosses managed to pull of the memorable wedding scenes earlier this week, actress Sarah Jayne Dunne admitted that a lot of ‘camera trickery’ had to be used.
The actress, who plays Mandy Richardson on the Channel 4 soap, told Metro : “We did some clever plate shots.
“They filmed the shot with me, and then they filmed the shot with Ash [Taylor Dawson], and then essentially put us closer together in the edit, so that all really helped.

“Ordinarily at a wedding, you’d have the first kiss, and the holding hands, but obviously we couldn’t do that, but I think that maybe worked in the context of the storyline, as obviously Mandy is terrified that this isn’t going to go to plan.”
Sarah also opened up about the difficulties that came with filming the outdoor wedding in January.

The soap star revealed: “We were outside the third week of January, and it was absolutely freezing. I am literally in a piece of material, so I didn’t notice the social distancing, I was just freezing cold while trying not to look cold.”
Mandy and Darren’s bombshell wedding went down a treat with audiences as the truth about Ella’s involvement in the demise of Jordan Price was finally revealed on their big day.

It left both Darren and Nancy in a state of complete shock, as Mandy cracked under pressure and attempted to explain her daughter’s questionable actions.
The drama continues on Monday on Channel 4.
