Hollyoaks announces plans to return to filming

Hollyoaks has announced its plans to re-start production and return to filming.

The Channel 4 soap will resume production in Liverpool this week with recording on set to begin in July.

Like other soaps, Hollyoaks halted filming back in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Coronation Street and Emmerdale have recently returned to filming but Hollyoaks is filmed differently with just a single-camera.

Also like the other soaps, the drama was cut from five to two nights a week.

Hollyoaks fans will see the show increase to four episodes a week in September and current plans won't see it back to five nights a week until 2021.

A statement added: "To safeguard the health, safety and welfare of all involved in the production of Hollyoaks, new work protocols will be in place.

"All cast and crew will attend a safety induction to familiarise themselves with the revised way of working prior to production re-starting."
