Hollyoaks' Amanda Clapham bitten by huge spider in the UK

Former Hollyoaks star Amanda Clapham has revealed she was bitten by a 'wolf spider'.

The actress, who played Holly Cunningham on the Channel 4 soap, asked her followers for help on social media.

Posting on her Instagram stories, Holly added a picture of the spider, as she attempted to identify the species.

On the picture, Holly wrote: "Ok this little dude just bit me.

"I’m still standing but had no idea spiders in this country bite. Does anyone know what it is?"

Holly added: "Why do I always attract the bugs?!", followed by a sighing emoji and a laughing emoji.

Following research, the 31-year-old now believes the spider is a wolf spider.

Posting an update, Amanda said: "Ok, we think wolf spider.

"Can I still claim to be Spiderwoman though? I mean, it’s just a bite and swollen thumb but it could still happen."

According to The Wildlife Trust, the wolf spider is a medium-sized spider that hunts on the ground during the day.

They said: "It chases down its prey and leaps on it, just like a wolf. It frequents gardens and grasslands, as well as a variety of other habitats, and can often be seen sunbathing or running across the ground.

"The wolf spider shows various patterns of dark grey, brown and black, and is quite hairy. There are several species of wolf spider, which are very difficult to tell apart."
