Hollyoaks actor Kieron Richardson has revealed that Phillip Schofield helped him come out as gay 10 years ago.
In an emotional tribute to the This Morning presenter, Kieron said coming out to Phillip and Holly was "the best thing he ever did".
Kieron made the statement after Phillip came out as gay on social media on Friday morning.
Following the post, Phillip then opened up about it on This Morning with co-host Holly and fellow presenters Eamonn Homes and Ruth Langsford.
Inspired by what had happened, Kieron revisited when he came out 10 years ago. He shared details about the emotional moment on his Instagram page.
The post read: "Phillip and Holly were the first people I told on @thismorning 10 years ago…
"Letting me be brave and honest and confronting my truth… It was the best thing I did and have nothing but love and respect for him today ALL hail Schofe!!!!!"
Yesterday's This Morning show began with Holly reading out Phillip's statement in full and revealing she could "feel his pain".
Phillip said: "It's funny because everyone I’ve spoken to, you, have all been so supportive and so loving and caring.
"My entire family, to a person, have grabbed me and said it's OK we love you we’re proud of you. Every person I tell it gets a little lighter. But at the same time, I have made this decision, which is essential for me and my head.
"Of course I'm really very aware that Steph and the girls at home watching this. We are all together. We spent a lot of time together. They've been supporting us as we got to this moment."
