Holly Willoughby 'very emotional' as she opens up on dyslexia battle

Holly Willoughby has revealed her dyslexia battle and said she felt "very emotional" as she celebrated a friend's book launch.

Yesterday mum-of-three Holly shared a photo of herself holding her friend Hannah's book and said how proud she was of her schoolmate.

This Morning star Holly said the pair had been through "a lot" and had bonded over their struggles at school.

Holly captioned the post: "Today is a very important day for one of my oldest friends @h.j.peckham... we met on our first day of school and eventually moved into our first flat in London together... we’ve been through a lot!

"Probably something that bonded us hugely was the fact we are both dyslexic... that’s why this post is even more special and actually writing this I feel very emotional...

"If I could go back and tell my school friend that on the 2nd of February 2021 to mark the beginning of #childrensmentalhealthweek she would publish her 1st book, I’m not sure she’d believe it possible...

"You did it Hannah... so so proud of you... it’s a beautiful and important book. One that helps open the conversation with your little ones about how to talk about their emotions... we all need that right?"

Holly's fans rushed to comment on the post with their support.

Hannah herself replied: "Aw Holly that made me cry, thank you so so much for your support my darling x... your school day secrets are safe with me for... for another week xxx"

Nicola Chapman said: "Fabulous, both myself and now my daughter are dyslexic and I’m trying to find books to help her love of reading and encourage her that we are all different in the way we like to learn."

Steel2898 said: "Holly I’m so please you talk about being dyslexic my son is and I had so many obstacles to jump to get him an education because they wouldn’t expect it , I think it really needs a voice to help children understand that they are not stupid."

Holly has previously spoken about her dyslexia to Red magazine and said: "I’ve struggled with dyslexia since I was young and it used to hold me back.

"At school, reading out loud absolutely terrified me because I’d get all the words wrong and I was convinced everybody thought I was stupid.

"It still happens now – most of the mistakes I make on This Morning are because of it, but it doesn’t do what it did to me back then because I don’t let it have power. I now know that it’s all about how you package it in your head."
