Holly Willoughby steps in and tells ITV This Morning guests to 'behave' as King Charles chat turns to 'insults'

Holly Willoughby used her This Morning host authority as things started to go a bit wayward when discussing the latest news headlines. The presenter was back fronting the ITV daytime show alongside co-host Phillip Schofield on Wednesday (September 21).

As usual, the pair were on hand to lead the 'This Morning's View' segment which sees them discuss the biggest stories and talking points with two guests. On the famous sofa today was Vanessa Feltz and Matthew Wright and feathers were soon ruffled over a conversation about King Charles III.

Holly and Phillip invited Vanessa and Matthew to discuss a range of current news, including reports of the King's plans for a slimmed-down monarchy and his upcoming coronation.

Getting stuck into the conversation, Matthew said: "Out of respect, I've kept my mouth shut for more than a week. I'm still doing my best to keep my real feelings subdued. I think we should worry about people starving before we worry about putting magnificent jewels on people's magnificent heads. That's just how I am, it's never going to change!"

However, Vanessa was quick to respond and fired back: "For all we know, the new King might be talking about some level of self-funding!" The pair then entered into a disagreement over inheritance tax when Vanessa said: "Look, you're an adorable guy but you've had an excellent career as a tabloid journalist.

"The way you speak in headlines shows why you were such a successful tabloid journalist." This resulted in Matthew hitting back: "But you're the one that's doing tabloid telly, Vanessa!"

As the decibels got higher, Phillip and Holly were forced to step in as the latter told their guests "You two, behave yourselves!" While Phillip said: "Let me just jump in between you both momentarily."

And This Morning viewers were soon flocking to social media to comment as their clash caused a divide. @Christopher_T42 tweeted: "Vanessa you know you've lost as you're getting personal #ThisMorning." @JULES231068 wrote: "Vanessa resorting to insults because she knows Matthew is right. #thismorning."

But @Jjjjjj73863389 said: "@Matthew_Wright uncomfortable to watch you having a tantrum, throwing your hands in Vanessa’s face hardly letting her speak. You look like a child @thismorning #thismorning." @JulesItsjules commented: "Calm down #MatthewWright. There’s being passionate and there’s being shouty and rude. Stop interrupting everyone all the time and calmly give your opinion like lovely Vanessa. #ThisMorning."
