Holly Willoughby shut down in clash with ITV This Morning guest over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix documentary

Holly Willoughby appeared to be shut down as she clashed with a guest on This Morning as they discussed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's documentary series. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are hitting the headlines again after it was revealed the first part of their Netflix documentary will air this Thursday (November 8).

It was confirmed that 'Volume 1' of the couple's series will feature three episodes while a second installment will follow a week later on December 15, again featuring three episodes. It came as a second minute-long trailer was released, teasing what is described as an 'unprecedented and in-depth' look at the couple's lives after stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family.

During the latest look at the series, videos play of the couple receiving rapturous applause while conducting royal duties as well as announcing their engagement and their wedding in 2018, a news clip voiceover by Piers Morgan says: "She’s becoming a royal rock star". It then cuts to Meghan saying "and then" before snapping her fingers with Prince Harry adding: "Everything changed".

During Tuesday's This Morning, Holly and co-host Phillip Schofield were joined in the ITV daytime show's studio by Camilla Tominey, Sonia Sodha and Simon McCoy with the trio of guests being asked what could come next for the Sussexes after the explosive divisive docuseries.

Simon said: "There may be some good to come out of this if it’s putting some focus on racism in the media, in the Royal Family – that is something that perhaps needed to be discussed." He added: "Things have changed dramatically since they departed this country."

Camilla, however, argued against the suggestion that Harry and Meghan faced media intrusion. She asked the hosts and her fellow guests to name a 'covert' paparazzi shot taken of the couple in the UK which was then published in a national newspaper to which Holly responded: "I do remember there were comparisons at the time between how Kate [Middleton] was being treated and how she was being."

Camilla argued against Holly (ITV)

Camilla interjected and said: "I know, but Holly, even the footage of Kate...," before Holly cut in and said: "There was quite a difference there." As the pair continued to talk over one another, Holly argued: "I’m saying this because I’m trying to offer another side to this, because I don't like anyone who’s not here."

To which Camilla then replied: "The truth of the matter is – I work on a national newspaper and I have covered the Royal Family since 2005. The absolute truth of the matter is there is no market for Royal paparazzi shots anymore. Post-Leveson [inquiry] you don’t see any pictures of the children or the couple in private. Quite rightly, the Diana years were too intrusive."

But it appears This Morning viewers were over the discussion. @susie_retro tweeted: "#ThisMorning Just leave the Harry and Meghan thing alone now please, enough is enough." @Christopher_T42 complained: "So Harry and Meghan is the only story in town, how pathetic, think most viewers are more bothered about rail & postal strikes over the Christmas holiday #ThisMorning." @OldSoulHighs added: "#ThisMorning leave Meghan and Harry alone. We have bigger world wide issues..."
