Holly Willoughby SHOCKED as Kem Cetinay drops Love Island bombshell on This Morning

Holly Willoughby was left gobsmacked after Kem Cetinay revealed why Love Island does not air on a Saturday night.

Cetinay, who won the ITV2 show in 2017, told Willoughby and Phillip Schofield that islanders are allowed to take their microphones off and “chill out on the beach”, free from the cameras once a week.

“They give you one day off,” he said on Monday’s This Morning. “It gives them a day to clean the villa, you take your mics off and normally we go to the beach and we just chill out.”

Willoughby replied: “What? Are you joking?”

An equally shocked Schofield asked: “So coupling could happen on the beach?”

But Cetinay explained that the islanders are banned from getting romantically involved with one another and are prevented from discussing the show.

“You’ve got to talk about home life,” he said. “You’re being watched by an eagle hawk, by the producers, because they don’t want you to talk about what’s going on.”

Willoughby said she didn’t know how she felt about the revelation while Schofield appeared unconvinced that the islanders need a day off, adding: “A day off from your holiday, and games and sunshine and relationships.”

Viewers were equally as gobsmacked by the news, with one tweeting “wtaf” while another appeared to agree with Schofield, tweeting: “WOOAAAHHHHH!! A day off from eff all??!”

Another tweeted: “Nahhh never knew that on Love Island on Saturdays they get a day off, go out of the villa and to the beach etc! Crazy #loveisland.”

One compared it to Big Brother, writing: “Producers clean the villa? The islanders LEAVE the villa? They have FRIDAY'S OFF AND GO TO THE BEACH? WITH THEIR MICROPHONES TURNED OFF???? BIG. BROTHER. WOULD. NEVER. #LoveIsland.”

The This Morning duo were later joined by this year's first Love Island casualty Callum Macleod who was booted out on Friday night.

Love Island is on ITV2, tonight at 9pm
