Holly Willoughby scares Phillip Schofield after screaming because fly lands on her face

Phillip Schofield was "ready to break" social distancing rules as Holly Willoughby screamed on This Morning.

The presenting duo were enjoying some pasta prepared by Gino D'Acampo when a fly invaded the studio.

Gino asked: "Who are you fighting?"

Holly said: "There's a fly here and it's trying to get involved in my pasta, and it's going to lose!"

Holly grabbed a newspaper and attempted to swat the fly which was trying to land on her food, but instead let out a huge scream.

Phil flinched, ready to dart towards Holly after hearing her wail: "It's on my face! Did you see it?"

"I thought you were going over backwards there! I was ready to break the rules to save you!", he said.

Holly laughed, realising she'd spooked Phil, saying she was perfectly balanced on the stool.

"I'm balanced, I've got my legs out! I was balanced," she laughed.

"It's just a friendly fly," said Gino as he attempted to carry on cooking.

Fans of the show tweeted their amazement of "superhero" Phil.

"That was so funny! I imagined Phillip suddenly changing into a superhero to save her. Full cape and Y fronts over trousers!"

Another added: "Philip’s reaction! That was so funny, I thought he was going to jump up and save her."

Others tweeted: "That was close, that would’ve gone down in history if she’d fallen backwards, glad she didn’t tho!" and "She did look like she was going over."

This Morning returns at 10am every weekday morning.
