Holly Willoughby says day ‘got 100% better’ when she remembered Love Island was back

Holly Willoughby has made no secret of the fact that she can't wait to get stuck into the latest series of Love Island.

The mum-of-three opened Monday's This Morning by talking about the much-loved ITV2 dating show with her co-host Phillip Schofield.

Holly and Phil looked miserable as the show opened with a grey and rainy screen.

However, the colour returned as 40-year-old Holly screamed: "I've got a text!" and the Love Island theme tune kicked in.

Reading out the text, Holly said: "Phil and Holly. Grab your sunnies and yourself a drink, and meet us tonight, 9pm at the fire pit. Love Island is back!"

"We never stay miserable for long!" Phil declared as the pair began dancing in their seats.

"I am so excited! When I woke up this morning, I genuinely forgot it was today. My day got 100 per cent better knowing," Holly admitted.

A few years ago, Holly begged Love Island bosses to let her into the villa and promised to take her own tequila with her.

Monday's This Morning started with Holly and her co-host Phillip Schofield looking fed up and grey (ITV)

During an episode of This Morning back in 2018, Phil said: "If we say it here, if we say Love Island, you know, Holly wants to at some stage during the course of the series fly out, maybe make a little film for This Morning."

Holly nodded enthusiastically as she jumped in to say: "I'll get my own flights and my own accommodation."

Phillip added: "And she's happy to pay for it all."

"Honestly I'll do it," Holly continued. "I'll bring my own tequilas and limes, I can make margaritas for everyone."

The latest series of Love Island will see 11 singletons head into the Spanish villa in the hope of finding someone special.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
