Holly Willoughby's This Morning replacement 'in talks' for more permanent role

This Morning's Josie Gibson is reportedly in talks for a more permanent role on the show.

The Bristolian presenter was a hit with fans when she stood in for Holly Willoughby last month.

Josie was drafted in as a last minute replacement after the usual host was struck down with a stomach bug.

The 36-year-old fronted ITV's flagship programme alongside Phillip Schofield and impressed viewers with her down-to-earth broadcasting style.

Fans were disappointed when Josie returned to her more familiar role presenting the show's Dosh on Your Doorstep segment the following week and demanded she feature in a more prominent position.

Sources have told Heat magazine that Josie is now in discussions with ITV bosses to get a more permanent role on This Morning - with people seeing her as the perfect replacement should Holly ever decide to depart the show.

The same source alleged Holly has been open with show bosses about her desire to explore new things in the future.

They told Heat: "Holly has been really open with show bosses about wanting to try new things, and while she will always be loyal to This Morning, she's not sure what the future holds."

However, Holly's immediate future on This Morning has been secured as last night it was reported she has signed a contract to stay on at the show until 2023.

An insider said : "It seems like everybody wants that gig but Holly is very much secured for the next two years on a rolling contract."

This Mornings airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITVHub
