Holly Willoughby's This Morning absence 'unexplained' after host's weekend at Glastonbury

Holly Willoughby was unexpectedly absent from This Morning on Monday, with no explanation given as to why she wasn't on the ITV show to start another week, right after she was spotted partying at Glastonbury over the weekend.

For the past two weeks, viewers have seen Holly host the programme alongside Dermot O'Leary, the star that bookies are still tipping to be the full time replacement for Phillip Schofield, after his controversial exit from This Morning right at the end of last month. After also taking a day off on Thursday, as usual, Holly didn't host on Friday, with Alison Hammond coming in to team up with Dermot, as she does every week, but those watching at home on Monday, were fully expecting to see Holly at the helm.

However, as Lorraine Kelly crossed live to This Morning at the end of her first live show of this week, Holly was nowhere to be seen and was instead Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle who joined her. Minutes later, after opening credits rolled on This Morning, Craig gave the briefest of statements about Holly's absence, informing fans she'd be back tomorrow, but without elaborating on the reason for her being off.

Holly and Craig hosted for the first time together earlier this month, with plenty of viewers saying that Holly seemed a lot happier and that Craig was the 'perfect' colleague for her.

Holly was pictured arriving at Glastonbury by helicopter on Friday and, addressing that and hinting her weekend at the music festival could be the reason for her absence, one viewer took to Twitter to post: "noticed Holly Willoughby wasn't on This Morning today probably nursing her Glastonbury hangover she went there," with another tweeting: "Holly must be hungover."

Others were more than happy to see Josie and Craig do the honours, with one fan, clearly not missing Holly, rushing to post: "Who cares why Holly isn't in, we got Josie and Craig." Echoing those sentiments, a second remarked: "'Holly will be back tomorrow.' It's OK... I didn't ask #thismorning. But why not just keep Josie and Craig all week?"
