Phillip Schofield was left in tears this morning after announcing that he is gay.
The This Morning presenter posted the statement to the This Morning Twitter account, saying that there had been some 'very dark moments'.
Phil then appeared on the show in an emotional interview with his co-star Holly Willoughby.
He broke down as he talked about his 'incredible' family, saying: "They are so amazing. They said 'it's okay, we'll be okay. We'll always be a family.'"
"I was getting to the point where i didn't like myself because i wasn't being honest," he told Holly.
"I need to be that person on the other side of the sofa telling their story.
"This is absolutely my decison. It is something I have to do."
Holly then heartbreakingly told Phil that she would be by his side supporting him 'forever'.
He told Holly: "I could not have done it, if it wasn't for you."
She then said: "Whatever happens in the future, I'll be sat by your side here.
"I'll be by your side forever and ever and ever."
