Holly Willoughby has looked back on the tumultuous year the world has experienced.
The This Morning star, 40, took to Instagram to mark the one-year anniversary of the UK’s first lockdown back in March 2020 in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.
In an emotional post, Holly encouraged her 7.1 million fans to give themselves a celebratory pat on the back for how far they’ve come over the past year.
Alongside a stunning snap of the much-loved host sporting a spring-themed ensemble, complete with a baby blue pleated skirt, Holly penned: “Morning Tuesday.
“It’s a year to the day that Prime minister Boris Johnson first put us into national lockdown.
“I’m feeling rather reflective about how far we’ve come and how far we’ve got to go.”

She went on: “Sending love to you and your families and especially thinking of you if this year has taken away someone you love.
“Today at midday we will be marking this milestone by joining the nation in a minute's silence to remember those we’ve lost.”
Following Holly’s emotional post, fans flocked to the comments to share how they have been affected by the deadly virus this past year.

“It’s been an incredibly tough year, but it truly put into perspective what matters,” shared one fan.
“Thank you for this Holly. We still do have such a long way to go, but we must remain positive. Thank you for brightening up our mornings every day,” another echoed.
Meanwhile, a third gushed: “It’s hard to believe it’s been a full year. People’s kindness has truly shone through, and for that, I’ll always be thankful for the pandemic.”

A minute's silence was held at 12pm on Tuesday, followed by a bell toll to mark the one-year anniversary of the UK’s first national lockdown.
People have also been encouraged to stand on their doorsteps at 8pm with phones, candles, and torches to signify a "beacon of remembrance" on the national day of reflection.
The commemoration is organised by Marie Curie which estimates more than six million people have been bereaved since the coronavirus pandemic began.
