Holly Willoughby recalls one of the 'most important' things that helped her as a new mum

Holly Willoughby gave fans a glimpse into what life was like for her when she first became a mother as she hosted This Morning on Tuesday.

Holly, 40, and her co-host Phillip Schofield were talking to a doctor about how they have coped during the last year and being in lockdown, when Holly recalled becoming a parent 11 years ago.

"I remember being a new mum, one of the most important things was socialisation of the baby, going to mum groups, whatever it was, music things," she said.

"That would be good for me because it would get me out of the house, but also great for the children to be able to socialise," Holly added.

The TV star is known for keeping her personal life private and chooses not to show her kids' faces on social media.

Holly and her husband Dan Baldwin are parents to Harry, 11, Belle, nine, and six-year-old Chester and the family reside in London.

Elsewhere on Tuesday's This Morning, Holly was left feeling disappointed with herself as she admitted she feels like she has "done nothing" during lockdown.

As guest Vanessa Feltz spoke about growing vegetables and Phillip stated that he "wrote a book" during lockdown, Holly worried that she hadn't made the most of the down time.

"You've been coming to work, you've been looking after your kids and homeschooling them," Phillip reminded his pal.

Earlier this month, Holly opened up about the reason why she never shares photos of her children's faces on social media.

Speaking about her own opinion of Meghan Markle's concerns regarding the privacy of her son Archie, Holly said: "I choose not to show my children's faces because I know that's the deal. If you show one photograph then they're out there!

"They're for consumption for everybody! Which is why I choose not to do it."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
