Holly Willoughby reached out and offered advice to Piers Morgan over 'concern' following GMB exit

Piers Morgan has revealed that Holly Willoughby gave him some advice after he dramatically left Good Morning Britain.

The two ITV stars have had friendly rivalry on-screen ever since Piers joined GMB five years ago.

He constantly called out Holly and This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield as they scooped the daytime award at major ceremonies in the TV calendar.

But it appears they have a friendship off-screen and in his latest MailOnline column, the 56-year-old revealed how Holly, 40, felt "concerned" after his sudden GMB exit.

"Holly Willoughby was more concerned about my blood pressure from all the GMB ranting," Piers said.

"'Do you meditate?' she asked. "'No,' I replied, 'But I did drink a ginseng latte today if you're trying to woke me up?'"

Piers said that Holly advised him to take an "online course to offset some of this anger".

He explained: "Holly then sent me a link to one that costs £249 for seven hours of meditation technique training live-broadcasted to my home which would include advice on 'managing difficult situations', 'nailing interviews' and 'making hangovers less horrible'."

But he politely declined, adding: "Problem is that I can’t imagine anything more boring than not being ruled by my emotions."

In his latest write-up, Piers also spoke of his "stupendously courageous and inspiring friend" Kate Garraway.

He said marking his birthday last week with a BBQ, as the rule of six was reintroduced in England, was a "stark" reminder of what Kate has faced as her husband Derek Draper remains in hospital - a year on since contracting coronaviurs.

"That was the day her husband Derek was rushed to hospital with Covid, and he remains seriously ill," Piers said.

"I spoke to Kate at length when her incredibly powerful documentary about it all aired on ITV last week, and she told me she’s been reading Derek my book, Wake Up.

"Never have I wished those words to be more prescient."
