Holly Willoughby 'mortified' as she struggled with two-line cameo on Midsomer Murders

Holly Willoughby ’s acting dreams came true this year when she cast in an episode of her all-time favourite show - Midsomer Murders.

The This Morning host, 40, was only given two-lines to read in her cameo.

And although it may seem like an easy task, Holly struggled with her tiny script as her nerves got the better of her.

While she had kept quiet about her experience during filming, Holly recently revealed that her acting debut didn't quite go to plan when she stepped in front of the camera.

The TV star admitted that it took almost 25 takes before she was able to deliver her scripted words out properly.

"I wasn't take one, put it that way... Or take two or take 10,” she shared on This Morning.

“Around about take 25 I got the words out but it's fine.”

And lifting then lid on her time on the show with co-host Phillip Schofield, Holly went on: “I thought it was just interesting people would turn to a series about murder and death for escapism. People have found it a joyous escape from the horrors of real life.

“My episode involves a murder mystery country house party weekend. Barnaby and Winter turn up to investigate. Everyone is trapped on this island with a murderer.”

Although Holly came away from the experience thinking she did a bad job on the show, she has received nothing but praise from fans, friends, and family since – with some even suggesting that it was best Midsomer Murders episode ever made.

“Everybody I know who has watched all of Midsomer says it’s one of their favourites we’ve ever made,” the TV star said.

“I said to them "Thanks for having me, it was one of the best days of my life"'.

Phillip then asked his co-star whether she thinks that she might be asked to return to the show in the future, to which Holly replied: "I don't think so."

It was actually back in March that Holly was left stunned when she was approached to record a scene in an upcoming episode of the show.

The iconic ITV series focuses on various murder cases that take place within small country villages across the fictional English county of Midsomer.
