Holly Willoughby left terrified on This Morning set and scared of asking important questions

Holly Willoughby has admitted she was left terrified at walking onto the This Morning set for the first time, worried she was 'too inexperienced' for the coveted TV role.

Holly has now been presenting the award-winning ITV daytime show for 12 years alongside co-host and close friend Phillip Schofield.

She landed the job after a string of TV gigs on the likes of CBBC at the Fame Academy, Ministry of Mayhem and The Xtra Factor but the now 40-year-old has admitted she was worried she didn't have the right credentials to front This Morning.

Holly told Radio Times : "When I started, I was terrified. I only ever felt comfortable in cookery and fashion – I was so scared of asking important questions for fear of looking stupid.

“I was quite young and I think some people were questioning whether I was the right person for the job.”

Holly had no need to be nervous as viewers quickly took to her and her partnership with Phillip, with the two going onto host Dancing on Ice together.

And, as she makes a candid admission about her This Morning reservations, ITV viewers will see Holly take on a very different role this weekend when she joins The Masked Dancer panel for Saturday's final.

Holly will follow in the footsteps of fellow celeb guest judges David Walliams and John Bishop to cast her eye over the dancers in disguise and try to work out 'who's that behind the mask?'

Speaking about her surprising TV job, Holly said: "How the Masked Dancers are able to pull off the moves they're doing in these costumes is mind blowing!

"I absolutely loved joining the panel as a special guest and getting to play detective. You’re all in for a real treat.”

Holly will also soon be on screen in Midsomer Murders after begging producers to give her a role on the long-running ITV drama.
