Holly Willoughby leaves Phillip Schofield in tears with emotional tribute on This Morning special

It's an emotional Christmas for Phillip Schofield as he's left in tears by a tribute from friend and co-host Holly Willoughby on This Morning.

Just like last year, when Phillip and Holly spread festive cheer to living rooms across the country, This Morning will be back on ITV on Saturday at 10am for a packed show of Christmas capers.

Phillip and Holly, who have been absent from screens for a few weeks, are joined during the pre-recorded show by star guests including Aled Jones and Leona Lewis, as well as studio regulars Gino D'Acampo and Josie Gibson.

But it's the moment when Holly steals the spotlight to deliver a poem to Phillip that gives This Morning's Christmas special its most memorable moment.

Unbeknown to Phillip, Holly has been working behind the scenes with poet Tom Foolery, the same writer Phillip worked with on a poem for Holly's 40th earlier this year.

The poem reads: "For my birthday this year you conspired with Tom, with our poem for Holly’s special day.

"Well in life what goes around always comes back, so now it’s our words headed your way.

"If there’s one thing we know Christmas is for, it’s for telling your loved one we care

"And for over a decade we’ve shared so many moments, and from my first day you’ve always been there. "

In the poem, Holly also refers to Phillip as a "suave silver fox, with a voice you could never mistake," adding: "I can never express to you the difference it made to spend lockdown at work with a best mate

"We’ve shared book birthdays and three times you’ve welcomed me here, you’ve been there for me through to this date."

Holly ends the poem: "So as we rap up this rhyme and we wish you a Christmas divine, we have one thing left to say that is true

"You’ve been a mentor and friend and I hope that won’t end, and all I want for Christmas is that you keep being you!”

After becoming increasingly emotional during the poem, Phillip wipes a tear away as Holly looks on.
