Holly Willoughby introduces new This Morning co-host

Viewers were in for a treat today, as Holly Willoughby introduced a new co-host to the set of This Morning.

Snuggling between normal hosts, Phil and Holly, was the newest addition to Holly's family, Bailey.

Bailey is a 15-week-old golden retriever puppy, and is the first dog the presenter has ever owned.

She introduced the fluffy companion, as she said: "Well we've got a very special visitor here in the studio today. I'm delighted to introduce you to the newest member of my family - this is Bailey. Who has sort of fallen asleep."

The dog looked comfortable and relaxed nestled in between the co-hosts as she appeared to be nodding off.

Holly squeaked the dog's toy and soon had her attention.

The mum-of-three said she would love to be able to keep the dog on set, and Phil agreed as he said it's very calming.

Holly replied: "Very calming until she poops on the rug. Which will happen at some point today."

The presenter already has a pet cat at home, called Bluebell, and posted on her Instagram this week showing the animals meeting each other. She showed a short clip of the cat looking unsure about the dog.

She captioned it: "Introducing a puppy to a cat has to be a slow and gentle process. I installed a baby stair gate so that Bluebell would feel safe and have the run of the house upstairs.

"Over the course of a few weeks, she ventured down, one step a day, until this happened at the weekend. One small step for cat, one giant leap for our family…"

This Mornings airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITVHub
