Holly Willoughby forced to swap heels for flip-flops after back injury

Holly Willoughby was forced to resort to flip-flops after she suffered an injury to her back while hosting This Morning.

The presenter joked that the injury was a result of her turning 40 earlier this month and happened when she uncrossed her legs.

Ahead of Spin To Win, she addressed her shorter stature as she stood next to the glittery wheel.

"You might have noticed I'm on this side today, that's because during the show I uncrossed my leg and have pulled my back, because now I'm over 40 that's the stuff that happens.," she said. "So I've got the flip flops on, I can't wear my heels."

Co-star Phillip Schofield quipped: "You can't actually walk out to get the tombola, not at speed anyway.

"It took a long time to get her back in from outside, let me tell you."

Holly continued: "They nearly had to wheel me out! If it hadn't been for social distancing I would have been on your back."

This comes after the pair presented several segments of the ITV show outside as lockdown loosened on Monday's show.

Holly and Phil had quizzed Health Secretary Matt Hancock as the public were told that groups of up to six people are able to meet up outside - including in private gardens.

The stay-at-home rule has also ended, though the government has advised people to "minimise travel", while outdoor sport facilities are allowed to open.

The presenters also made the most of the nice weather with a BBQ, courtesy of James Martin, who cooked up a storm for themselves, Gyles Brandreth, Alice Beer and Matthew Wright.
