Holly Willoughby fans think 'new TV role' explains This Morning absence

Holly Willoughby has been absent from This Morning for a while, and her fans think they've finally worked out why.

The TV presenter, 40, has been missing from those famous sofas since before Easter, and didn't return as expected this week after the Easter holidays ended, being replaced by Rochelle Humes.

And her devoted followers think she has been filming a cameo role on Midsomer Murders instead.

Last month, Holly and her co-host Phillip Schofield interviewed cast members Neil Dudgeon and Nick Hendrix, who surprised her by offering her a role on the show.

Holly was absolutely delighted, and immediately agreed to starring.

She said: "Yes! Of course I say yes. I have seen every single episode since it started way back when."

And after Holly made a cryptic Instagram post over the weekend, her followers were convinced this is what she's been up to.

Holly's fans thought she might be working on something when she posted this photo (Instagram)

She shared a picture of herself and her son Chester lying on the grass in their garden as she doodled in a notebook.

One fan commented: "Thinking could it be midsummers TV drama.

"I remember them asking you to join them on the drama and they would see what they could arrange.

"This was a few weeks ago when you and Phil were chatting to a couple cast members one morning on your show. Good luck whatever it is."

"Would it be Midsomer?" another asked.

A third said: "Checking your script out for Midsomer Murders maybe?"

While another person tweeted: "Holly are you having a secret adventure? One thinks there maybe some skullduggery afoot. #midsummermurders."
