Holly Willoughby fans think they've figured out what the This Morning host is working on - keeping her off show another week

Holly Willoughby fans think they have figured out why she has had to take an extra week off her job at This Morning.

The presenter, 40, was due back on the hit ITV daytime show on Monday (April 19) alongside co-host Phillip Schofield after a two week Easter break.

But Holly was nowhere to be seen and Rochelle Humes has stepped into her shoes for the week alongside Phil.

The mum-of-three did give fans a heads up on her absence from This Morning with a selfie post on Instagram on Sunday night.

The image sees Holly smiling at the camera while her six-year-old son Chester lays on her back.

"Vitamin D, caffeine and a side order of distraction from Chester," she said in the caption to her 7.1m followers.

"Working on something else next week which I can’t wait to share with you all…. Thank you to the lovely @rochellehumes for keeping my side of the sofa warm… x"

So fans have been left guessing about what exactly it is she is working on.

"Would it be midsomer," asked one.

Another commented: "Thinking could it be midsummers TV drama. I remember them asking you to join them on the drama and they would see what they could arrange. This was a few weeks ago when you and Phil were chatting to a couple cast members one morning on your show. Good luck whatever it is."

"Checking your script out for Midsomer Murders maybe?" a third added.

Viewers may remember that Holly was offered a guest role on the ITV drama after confessing how much she loved it.

Rochelle Humes has stepped in alongside Phillip Schofield (ITV)

During an interview with the stars of the long-running ITV hit, Neil Dudgeon and Nick Hendrix, the secret news was revealed to a thrilled Holly.

"That's amazing!" exclaimed a shocked Holly. "Yes! Of course I say yes. I have seen every single episode since it started way back when."
