Holly Willoughby fans in disbelief as she poses with giant family pet

Holly Willoughby has stunned fans with a picture of her family's pet on Instagram.

The This Morning presenter introduced "Mullins" to her 7.2 million followers, a gorgeous Irish wolfhound belonging to her mother-in-law.

Holly, 40, described the huge dog as a "gentle giant" as she posed alongside Mullins in a grey jumper, skinny jeans and a pair white trainers.

The pooch, who was sat in front of Holly, looked almost as tall as the mum-of-three in the cute garden snap.

"Hanging out with this gentle giant today… meet my mother in laws baby… Mullins #irishwolfhound #dogsofinstagram," Holly said.

She signed the caption off with a green heart and the comments quickly came pouring in, with many floored by the size of the massive dog.

"He's nearly as tall as you," one astonished fan wrote, while a second joked: "What breed of horse is this?"

Another likened the "adorable" pooch to the "BFG in dog world".

"Knowing how frightened you are of dogs that move, you are being very brave," said a fourth.

While another wrote: "Wow you were scared of the lovely little collie the other day well done you."

The picture comes just a couple of days after Holly was nervous of a dog who appeared on ITV's This Morning.

Sophie Goss brought on her border collie Bear, a clever pup who knew his 52 toys by name and could grab beers from the fridge on request.

While impressed by Bear's tricks, Holly got uncomfortable when the dog got too close.

Taking one of his toys over to her, Bear let out a small growl indicating her wanted to play.

"Oh I'm not sure, I'm scared. It's like Wilson from Friday Night Dinner," Holly said.

"I don't know why it's just the growling thing made me think he might bite my face."
