Holly Willoughby disappointed after cancelling 40th birthday bash

Holly Willoughby revealed her disappointment as she said she has been forced to cancel her 40th birthday party.

Holly, 39, is set to mark her landmark birthday on February 10 next week and had planned a big showbiz bash to mark the occasion.

Today on This Morning the show focused on 'how to celebrate your birthday in lockdown' and Holly said the segment was particularly relevant to her.

Speaking to co-host Phillip Schofield Holly confessed: "Tomorrow night I would have been having a big party and I had to cancel it.

"So it will look very different.

"But as long as I've got a cake and a glass in my hand I'll be fine."

Phillip tried to console her and said: "Here have a wotsit Holly, It'll be fine."

Phillip paid tribute to Holly earlier this week as he described her as the "sister" he'd never had.

He told OK! magazine : "There have been so many times over the years that I have rejoiced in the fact that Holly is my friend, I've said often that she is the sister I never had.

"We've stood side by side (recently with a 2m gap) through good times and tough times... She is a constant support to me, built of steel and love. We've laughed together and cried together and got helplessly drunk together.

"I'm a lucky man to have such a fiercely loyal and wonderful friend in my life. Happy birthday, Holly."

Several followers also sent their well wishes to Holly, with some suggesting This Morning would make a fuss of her on the day.

There are reports that the ITV show will mark the occasion with a cake on air to celebrate Holly's special day.

She is also expected to have a birthday zoom call with her showbiz friends such as Emma Bunton.

And her husband Dan and children Chester, Belle and Harry are also expected to help her celebrate in style.

*This Morning continues at 10am on ITV tomorrow
