Holly Willoughby confused to learn of arrival of Boris Johnson's baby boy

The arrival of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's baby boy was announced this morning.

Phillip Schofield shared the news with viewers live during Wednesday's epsiode of This Morning, leaving co-host Holly Willoughby to react in shock.

Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds announced the birth of a " healthy baby boy  at a London hospital earlier this morning".

Both mother and baby are doing very well, their spokesman said.

Holly learned of Carrie Symonds giving birth live on the ITV1 daytime favourite, reports Birmingham Live.

The 39-year-old presenter's response was that of disbelief.

The mum-of-three was shocked and asked if the announcement was "definitely right".

Phillip Schofield broke the news to their viewers, saying: "What breaking news am I being told?

"Boris Johnson has just announced the birth of a boy boy with Carrie Symonds, that's just coming through right now.

"That was quick!"

Holly said: "Wow, I didn't realise she was that far along!"

Phil added: "Neither did I."

Holly continued: "She must have been a lot further along when she announced it.

"Is that definitely right?"

Holly eventually added: "Well that is lovely, wow amazing.

"Wow, what a time they're having; we're all going through it but they're going through it with bells on.

"That's incredible, well congrats to that family. How amazing?"

Announcing their engagement in February, the couple had said they were expecting a baby in the early summer.

On Wednesday, however, a spokesman said they were "thrilled to announce the birth of a healthy baby boy".
