Holly Willoughby 'can't bear it' as sensitive This Morning call turns 'distressing'

Holly Willoughby was clearly feeling emotional during the latest phone in on Tuesday's episode of This Morning.

The mother-of-three and her co-host Phillip Schofield were joined by agony aunt Deidre Sanders on the latest instalment of the ITV show.

Deidre, 77, was keen to speak to viewers who were 'dealing with a difficult diagnosis' following her own breast cancer news.

As the trio welcomed one caller onto the show named Annie, it quickly became clear that the individual was very upset.

Phillip began the chat by saying: "Hi Anne, right so you've had pains in your chest and the left hand side of your back but you're scared to go to the doctors?

"Now, is this because you're terrified of what you might be told or you're embarrassed? What's the reason?" Phillip then asked.

"Yeah, I'm just terrified," Annie replied, as Deidre sympathised with her and asked her to confide in her partner and good friends.

However, the advice clearly made Annie even more emotional and she was heard crying down the phone.

"Ohhhh I can hear how upset you are," 41-year-old Holly said looking concerned.

Deidre then asked Annie to stay on the line and promised to talk to her more off air as Holly added: "I know, I know, oh I can't bear it."

"God, this is the reality isn't it?" Holly then said as Deidre responded: "I know, I mean there are people that are really, really frightened. And also, to be honest, we've also had some very distressing calls where people are dealing with death coming towards them down the track."

Viewers tuning in at home also found the call upsetting to hear and took to Twitter to comment.

"Aww I feel for Annie bless her I hope they help her out #ThisMorning," one person said.

Another tweeted: "This is heartbreaking poor Annie, please call your Dr #ThisMorning."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV Hub.
