Holly Willoughby branded 'common' by This Morning boss for wine drinking habit

Holly Willoughby was left red-faced when she was branded "common" by her boss on This Morning today.

The TV presenter, 39, was talking about her wine drinking habits and admitted she liked to use ice cubes when she enjoys a glass in the hot weather.

But her admission didn't go down well with the show's editor, who mocked her through her earpiece.

Holly and her co-host Phillip Schofield, 58, were discussing the divisive topic when she said she likes to have a chilled glass of white or rosé.

"I do if I'm sitting outside with a glass of white or rosé actually, I will," she confessed.

Phil didn't look very impressed so she asked him: "Is that really bad?"

Before he could say anything they had their editor speaking down their earpieces.

Holly said: "The editor's just said something outrageous in my ear!"

"The editor's just shouted out 'Common!'" Phil added. "Good heavens."

"I understand," Holly admitted. "I get it though, because it's supposed to dilute the wine but I like really, really cold white and rosé wine."

"Freeze grapes and put them in," Phil advised.

But This Morning viewers were firmly on Holly's side.

Viewers defended Holly (ITV)

One tweeted: "It's not 'common' to put ice in wine! In fact on the continent - in the nicest of places I've been to, the people, esp the locals dining there -always get extra ice to put in their rosé."

Another posted: "Putting ice in wine just means that you drink more water through the day and probably means you'll have less of a hangover. Everyone's a winner."

A third agreed: "I see no problem putting ice in white wine. Can’t say it's ever in my glass long enough to warm up though."
