Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield squeal in delight as 'psychic banana' predicts England result

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were left squealing in delight as they predicted England's fate in the Euro 2020 final.

The Three Lions take on Italy on Sunday night at Wembley in their first major tournament final since the 1966 World Cup.

And of course England's journey through the competition has been hot topic of conversation for weeks now.

This included on This Morning and on Friday's show, Holly brought back the psychic banana to predict whether Gareth Southgate's team will be victorious this weekend.

So far, the fruit hasn't been wrong - predicting that England would beat both Denmark and Germany to reach the Euro 2020 final.

And on today's show it was time to ask the all important question - Is it coming home?

"Are you ready everybody," Holly said. "We know so far within this competition the banana has been 100% right.

"So I'm feeling the pressure massively today."

The 40-year-old TV star explained that if a Y is visible in the tip of the banana once sliced, then it's a yes. If it's a dot, then it's a no.

"We ask it a yes or no question and the question is, will England win the Euros? Yes or no..."

Holly and Phil were ecstatic (ITV)

As she began to slice the banana, Holly said: "Oh my gosh, I've got the shakes," before she and Phillip gasped when it showed a very clear 'Y'.

Phillip threw his arms out wide and screamed as Holly remained in shock saying: "It's the biggest yes."

"It's coming home," he co-host shouted as Holly explained it's the biggest yes she's ever seen, "And I've been doing this since I was at school," she added.

But viewers aren't as convinced as Holly and Phil are.

"The psychic banana is so fixed yeah they have picked every banana to have a Y when you cut into them. #ThisMorning," tweeted one.

Another said: "Unbelievable….A banana has 3 segments so there will always be a Y. Ask another banana if Italy will win…"

"What a coincidence that every single banana they have cut on @thismorning about the football has been a yes !!! #ThisMorning," a third said.

Others, however, are loving the way of predicting the upcoming score.

"All hail the psychic banana," one fan said.

Another commented: "Don't underestimate the banana."

"Starting to believe this f*****g banana might actually be right…. Come on boys bring it home," a third added.

A fourth said: "Psychic Banana says YES!! #ItsComingHome."

"Indisputable proof that it's coming home," another added with a fan also commenting: "put way too much trust in Holly Willoughby and her psychic banana but ITS COMING HOME #ThisMorning."
