Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield lead emotional tributes to Caroline Flack on Dancing on Ice

Emotional tributes were paid to Caroline Flack during Sunday's Dancing on Ice.

Joe Swash choked back tears as he spoke of the loss of his close friend Caroline Flack.

The TV presenter was visibly overwhelmed as he finished his performance on Sunday night, with skating partner Alex Murphy.

As he came off the ice and joined hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, and the judges, he took the moment to pay tribute to Caroline, reports the Mirror.

Former Love Island host Caroline died on Saturday, with tributes pouring in for her.

A lawyer for the Flack family confirmed that Caroline took her own life and was found in her east London flat on Saturday.

Joe, who hosted I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Now with Caroline until 2011, confessed on Dancing On Ice on Sunday: "It's been a really tough day," with Alex adding: "It's been a long day."

Phillip then wanted to point out to viewers that Joe was close with Caroline, explaining why he had found the day so difficult.

He said: "We've got to point out to everybody you were very, very close with Caroline.

"So I know this has been an amazingly tough day. She'd be so proud of you Joe."

Joe then took the moment to remember his friend.

He said: "I just want to send my love to her family and my condolences, you know?"

At the start of the show, Phillip and Holly paid their own tribute to the late TV host.

Phillip said: "We'd like to begin tonight's show by taking a moment to remember Caroline Flack.

"In light of yesterday's awful news, we wanted to say that our hearts go out to her family and friends."

Holly added: "Many of us here on the show knew Caroline as a friend, and we'll all miss her enormously.

"As Caroline herself recently posted, in a world where you can be anything, be kind."

Following Joe's performance, his girlfriend Stacey Solomon took to Instagram to praise him for carrying on despite his "pain" over the loss of his close friend.

She said: "Love is everything. We are so proud of you. There is nothing worse than seeing you in pain, but nothing that fills our hearts more than seeing the joy you get from being a daddy and a role model.

"An incredible one at that. In this moment in time, all we can do is be kind. And remember that there is a human in every picture, behind every story, every post, every headline, and every TV screen, a real person, taking it all in, the good and the bad.

"There is no such thing as the perfect human. Having Empathy and kindness is all we can truly strive towards. 'In a world where you can be anything, be kind' - Caroline Flack. RIP We are so sorry, It should never have been this way."
