Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield forced to INTERVENE during tense debate on This Morning

It's the second time a story has encountered issues in two days on This Morning after Ant Middleton's chat was plagued by sound problems and a runner had to come in to replace the mic.

Today, the issue was much less trivial as an LGBT conversation nearly spiralled out of control.

Holly and Phil were essentially mediating a debate between Shakeel Afsar, who is leading the protests at Anderton Park Primary over LGBT teaching and Melissa Thompson.

Melissa Thompson, a former food consultant claimed Afsar was 'poisoning children' with his views, The Mirror reports.

Shakeel Afsar was on the show as he is leading the protests against Anderson Park Primary in Birmingham, despite admitting he has no children at the school, over LGBT teaching.

Phillip Schofield slams anti-LGBT education protester

Mr Afsar has claimed teaching about LGBT equality at Anderton Park School was "over-emphasising a gay ethos".

Phillip Schofield also hit out at Shakeel during the chat for "discriminating" and "encouraging children to be less tolerant."

Shakeel replied that children should be "taught respect for humanity" and said that the LGBT community has been intolerant towards the Muslim community.

The interview was finished not long after Thompson accused Mr Afsar of poisoning children with his views and the show cut to a break.
