Holly Willoughby has revealed that she almost gave up her job on This Morning before she'd even started.
The TV presenter, 40, admitted she was "terrified of looking stupid" and thought people were questioning if she was the right person for the job.
She has fronted the ITV daytime show with Phillip Schofield for 12 years now, and Holly has now reflected on how she felt when she joined the show in 2009.
"When I started, I was terrified," Holly told Radio Times. "I only ever felt comfortable in cookery and fashion – I was so scared of asking important questions for fear of looking stupid.
"I was quite young and I think some people were questioning whether I was the right person for the job."
But she needn't have worried, as Holly was a big hit with viewers and is still hugely popular all these years later.
Her friendship with Phil has no doubt made the show the huge success that it.
She supported him last year when he came out as gay live on air.
Phil praised Holly for being there for him, revealing that she was one of the first people he told.
He said on The One Show: "We'd had a big lead up to that moment. When I knew what I had to do, Holly was one of the first people that I told.
"She's such a wise person, she's got such a calm, sensitive aura to her. Everyone at home was saying, 'It'll be ok, it'll be ok', and Holly was saying 'It'll be fine.'
"She was the only one who knew at work at that time. Then we sort of had to figure out how to do something like that."
Holly is currently said to be embroiled in a row with her former agents YMU Group, who want a cut of her commission under a sunset provisions clause in her contract where agents collect commission from a celebrity who has left them.
Now it's claimed ITV may resolve the situation amicably by giving Holly a pay rise if talks reach a crisis point, according to reports.
A source told The Sun : "Holly’s YMU row sparked some serious worries at ITV as they know how adamant she is that she shouldn’t have to pay them. They are hoping the situation can be amicably resolved. But they have agreed a last-resort plan to up her salary if it was to reach crisis level.
"They have not yet had a conversation with Holly about this and she’d never dream of asking for a raise. But they know how popular she is and they can ill-afford to lose her, especially when Susanna’s future is uncertain.
"She has been very concerned about the fall in ratings since Piers was axed and bosses fear that, unless they can recover, she will start considering her options next year. It is no coincidence that, following that conversation, Piers was approached."
