Holly Willoughby admits she accidentally left This Morning mic on when she went to toilet

Holly Willoughby has admitted that she accidentally left her mic on when she went to the toilet - meaning that her This Morning colleagues could hear everything.

Opening up the show today, presenter Phillip Schofield shared a viral video in a bid to put a smile on viewers' faces amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"We are starting this day and I am sorry about this, but this made us laugh - toilet humour," he said giggling.

The programme then aired a clip of a man who left a conference with his mic on and he was awkwardly heard going to the toilet by everyone at the meeting, who struggled not to laugh.

As Phil and Holly giggled, she admitted: "I have done it, not that long ago... when I came back, everyone was looking at me and Phil was like, 'I think you might have left your mic on!'

She added: "Thankfully I only went for a little tinkle - not like this guy!"

Some toilet sounds began airing and a laughing holly quipped: "That's Piers when he left his mic on!"

This comes after Holly was not best pleased with Piers when he commented on her clothing yesterday.

Pointing out that they were social distancing, Piers said: "I love the way you come and stand two metres away."

Looking at Holly's dress, he added: "Your spring wardrobe has obviously arrived."

Holly, who pointed out there were bigger concerns right now, sarcastically replied: "Thank you Piers. That's the important thing right now."

Giggling Piers said: "It's whatever gets us through right now."

*This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
