Holly Willougby confirms reason for This Morning absence as kids became unwell with coronavirus symptoms

Holly Willoughby has confirmed her reason for missing two days of This Morning this week.

The ITV star was suddenly absent from the programme she hosts alongside Phillip Schofield and was replaced by Alison Hammond and Davina McCall.

But Holly, 39, has now said that she missed two days of work after two of her kids became ill and had to get tested for coronavirus.

The mum-of-three wrote in a post on her Instagram Stories to her 6.9 million followers: "Just wanted to say thank you for all your kind messages...

"Over the last few days two of our children were unwell and has symptoms of Covid-19.

"In line with government guidelines we were waiting for results of the tests before I could return to work, couple that with just wanting to look after two poorly children, it meant having two days away from @thismorning."

She continued: "I chose not to alert everyone to this because my focus was looking after them... thankfully all tests came back negative and everybody's feeling much better.

"See you Monday. Once again, thank you for all the lovely messages... Holly xxxx."

The presenter sparked concern among fans when she didn't appear as usual on Wednesday and Thursday's show.

The reasons for her absence, as she said in her statement wasn't fully explained.

Co-host Phillip simply said: "Holly's having a day off, she's back on on Monday."
