New details have emerged following the death of Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan’s sister, Darci Rose, aged 19.
The reality TV personality, 33, confirmed her younger sibling’s passing in an emotional online tribute on Tuesday, describing the loss as “immeasurable” and thanking medical staff for their efforts to save her life.
Police have since launched an investigation after Darci was admitted to Manchester Royal Infirmary, where she later died. Officers said she had fallen seriously ill after reportedly taking drugs.
Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: “We were called by hospital staff to the concern for welfare of a 19-year-old woman who had fallen seriously ill after it is believed she had taken drugs. Sadly, the woman died in hospital Monday evening. Our thoughts remain with her family at this difficult time. Enquiries are ongoing.”
Half-sisters Hagan and Darci, who lived mostly out of the spotlight, share mother Vicki but have different fathers.
Hagan shared a heartfelt post on Instagram in which she said her sister had “passed away peacefully holding my hand surrounded by family and her best friends”.
“The last four days have been something I hope no family ever has to go through,” she wrote. “Because of the incredible staff at Manchester Royal Infirmary, we had the opportunity to hold her hand, stroke her hair and feel her heart beating for the last time.”
She went on to describe Darci as “so beautiful” and “the best aunty” to her son Alpha-Jax, saying she had dreamed of becoming a social worker after discovering a passion for helping children.
Friends and fellow reality stars flooded the comments of her post with condolences. Charlotte Crosby remembered Darci as “warm and caring”, while Sophie Kasaei said she would “always be an angel watching over” the family.
Former Love Island star Shaughna Phillips and TOWIE’s Amber Turner were also among those to send their sympathies, calling the news “heartbreaking”.
Hagan, who rose to fame on MTV’s Geordie Shore in 2011, married footballer Jacob Blyth in 2022. The couple welcomed their first child, Alpha-Jax, in 2023.
Police enquiries into the circumstances surrounding Darci’s death remain ongoing.
