Holly and Phil try not to laugh during sensitive debate after 'farting' blunder

This Morning viewers got the giggles today after a 'farting' blunder during a sensitive debate.

Presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield tried to remain composed - but viewers spotted their cheeky grins.

Glenn Slater and Vicki Psarias were on the show to discuss whether boys should cry in the wake of SAS Who Dares Wins star Ant Middleton's comments.

Ant said that he wanted his son to adopt a "stiff upper lip" attitude, but admitted that he was quick to comfort his crying daughter.

Glenn claimed Ant's words had been "blown out of context" and he "wasn't being sexist".

Revealing he had been brought up in the same way, Glenn said: "Boys aren’t as well disciplined nowadays. They don't respect their parents.

"They go out on the streets. They’re fighting, bullying, there's no discipline or respect.

"And I was brought up the same. If I fell over I got a slap on the legs and told to man up."

This Morning viewers were convinced Glenn had said the word 'farting' instead of 'fighting'.

And it seemed Holly and Phil thought the same as they tried to hold off the giggles.

When the camera turned to the pair, Holly scrunched up her lips as Phil tried to stay calm.

Viewers took to Twitter after hearing the unfortunate pronunciation.

One viewer said: "Did anyone else just hear him say "they're farting"? That grin tells me @Schofe heard it too"

"Holly and Phil holding in the laughs when the fella said “fighting” but it sounded like “farting”," added another.

A third said: "How did @hollywills and @Schofe not laugh out loud when he said boys nowadays are out there farting haha. They did well not too, saw the smiles thou haha!"

Vicki argued her case (ITV)

Vicki disputed Glenn's claims and insisted it was being 'sexist'.

She said: "You wouldn’t raise a daughter the same way. Then it is being sexist. The pressures boys have.

"I just think this toxic masculinity. This stiff upper lip is embarassing. When you look at suicide rates its an epidemic."

*This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am
