The Hollow Knight Silksong developer has already released the first patch notes, addressing multiple bugs (no pun intended) and nerfing bosses.
Hollow Knight Silksong players have complained about the game’s high difficulty, and the developer is trying to solve that while also making sure that the title doesn’t softlock players from progressing. Here’s a full list of the changes.
Hollow Knight Silksong patch notes (Sept. 9)

While the Hollow Knight Silksong update isn’t out on the public servers yet, it is available on the beta server for players to test these changes. However, if you don’t want to get into the beta, the developer has given a mid-week deadline for when the patch should be released on live servers.
Gameplay changes
Here are some of the major gameplay changes, including the difficulty of bosses:
- The Sandcarvers enemy dealt too much damage compared to others at their stage in the game. So their damage output has been slightly lowered to make them fairer to face in the early game.
- Similar to Sandcarvers, early game bosses Moorwing and Sister Splinter were considered overly punishing, so the developer has slightly nerfed their attack and health to make it easier take them down.
- Previously, players could force Hornet into a float state with a down+jump key after unlocking the Faydown Cloak. This unintended mechanic has been removed.
Economy changes
Here are some of the economy changes to preserve your precious Rosary beads:
- Mid-game fast travel points (Bellways and Bell Benches) were too expensive, creating a steep resource barrier for the player, so now their costs have been lowered.
- To balance the economy, Rosary beads from relics, psalm cylinders, and courier deliveries have been boosted, making progression feel more rewarding.
Other bug fixes
Here are some other bug fixes:
- Hornet could use the Faydown Cloak, and a bug caused her to permanently lose it after the Slab escape sequence, leaving players stuck. There is a fix now that ensures the cloak is properly restored.
- The Pea Pod had a collision hitbox that was too small, making it harder to interact. It has been adjusted and increased.
- A late-game questline called Infestation Operation couldn’t be completed due to progression-blocking conditions. The fix restores proper quest functionality.
- If players encountered the Bell Beast in a specific location (Bilewater Bellway), the quest Beast in the Bells wouldn’t register completion. Now, the quest can be finished regardless of where you fight the boss.
- Hornet’s signature move is a down-bounce attack. On some enemy projectiles, the physics glitched, leaving her floating unnaturally in midair. This has been fixed.
- Courier side missions, which involve delivering items, were bugged in Act Three, preventing progression or rewards. These are now fully accessible.
- Craft binds weren’t functioning properly during memory sequences, so now it has been fixed.
- During fights in the Deep Docks, Hornet could cause a soft-lock during the boss fight with Lace. This bug is now resolved.
- The pesky Silk Snippers could fall through the map or move outside the arena in the Chapel of the Reaper. They now remain within the intended battle area.
- A binding-related glitch with Claw Mirrors left Hornet flipped upside down if she took damage mid-animation. This has been patched.
- The Snitch Pick tool was supposed to reward rosaries and shell shards, but sometimes failed. Rewards now drop correctly.
All of these fixes will apply retroactively, meaning players who previously ran into progress-blocking bugs can jump into the public beta to resolve them right away. And this isn’t the end. Team Cherry has confirmed that a second patch is already in development, so if your issue isn’t listed here, chances are it’s on its radar and being worked on.
