Holland boss Ronald Koeman said he hopes Northern Ireland can follow his side to next summer's Euros.
The Dutch booked their place at the 2020 finals with Saturday night's 0-0 draw at Windsor Park .
They just needed a point to book their place, and Steven Davis' unfortunate penalty miss helped them in their cause.
Northern Ireland will now go into next year's playoffs to see if they can reach a second successive Euro finals.
Reflecting on Holland's qualification, Koeman said: “It means a lot to qualify for the Euros.
"That was our goal at the start of this campaign. Everyone is very happy. We are always criticising ourselves because we would like to have created more tonight.
"But overall it is about qualification and we did a good job.”
Koeman also said next year's finals would benefit from Northern Ireland's involvement if they can get through the playoffs.
“I think for the tournament it would be fantastic to have Northern Ireland there," he added.
"They have great support and the fans are always well behaved at big tournaments. So good luck to them.”
