Holidays Ireland: The new rules in AirBnBs across Ireland due to coronavirus as bookings rocket

AirBnB bookings are soaring across Ireland with people mad for a trip as travel restrictions are eased.

With a trip abroad seeming ever more unlikely, the majority of people are planning staycations in some of Ireland's most scenic spots.

But if you are looking at AirBnBs it's important to know there will some changed to how they usually operate.

Guests themselves will not have to do all that much as hosts are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the property.

However, it is important for guests to know the kind of cleaning regimes that many places will now be operating.

Here is everything you need to know based on the official AirBnB cleaning guidelines;

What guests will notice

AirBnB asks hosts to encourage guests to be clean and social distance where possible.

They state on their website: "You can help encourage social distancing by offering self check-in and checkout. Consider installing a key lockbox or smart lock with a keypad, and remember to update your listing to add self check-in instructions.

Why you're waiting so long in airport queues

"You can also minimize person-to-person contact by avoiding routine maintenance during your guest’s stay.

"To help guests maintain a higher standard of cleanliness and hygiene, make sure your space is well-stocked with the  essential amenities, and consider adding a few extras. Things like:

  • Hand soap
  • Paper towels
  • Tissues
  • Toilet Paper

"Be sure to stock plenty of extra towels and sheets, especially for guests who are staying for more than a few days.

"You can encourage guests to clean up after themselves by leaving disinfectants and other cleaning supplies for them. You may even want to print and share the above cleaning guidelines so that if they decide to clean or wash linens, they can do so according to the CDC’s guidelines."
