Fancy going your holidays to Harthill?
That sentence might be scoffed at but ambitious plans are set to be submitted to North Lanarkshire Council for 60 holidays chalets to be built near the North Lanarkshire villages of Harthill and Salsburgh.
In a statement on it social media page, TmC Planning and Property Development posted: “We would like to inform the communities of Salsburgh and Harthill about our proposal to submit a planning application for 60 holiday chalets, hard standing for touring caravans and areas for tents with associated infrastructure, entertainment centre, watersports centre, and managers house at the land formally known as Bridgehill Farm, just north of Forrestburn Reservoir.”
The man behind the plans is former North Lanarkshire councillor turned planner Tommy Cochrane.
Speaking to Lanarkshire Live this week, Tommy said: “At the moment we are the pre-application stage and there will be a public consultation.
“It’s no secret we are always looking for more investment in the Fortissat area.
“I couldn’t get as much investment into the area during my time as a councillor so that’s what we are trying to do now.”
Tommy also confirmed that a decision on his plans to built 61 homes in Allanton is expected in the next month.
At a meeting of the council’s planning committee in January, councillors voted 11 to seven against the plans, with one member abstaining.
An appeal to the Scottish Government reporter was then submitted.
Tommy added: “I am expecting a decision on the Allanton homes in the next four weeks.
“I believe it would be of beneficial to the village because Allanton needs investment and that’s why I decided to appeal the decision.
“We do have other plans for the area including 94 homes and four shops in the Torbothie area which has been submitted to the council."
