Holidays are coming - Princes Square gears up to switch on Christmas lights

It's official - holidays are coming.

The John Lewis ad is here, the I'm a Celeb line-up has been announced - and some of you folk already have your trees up. So we're calling it. We're officially allowed to say the C word.

And nothing says Christmas more than seeing our favourite spots in Glasgow all lit up.

Come Sunday (November 17) Princes Square shopping centre will officially welcome in the festive season when it unveils its Christmas lights for 2019.

‘Scotland’s Favourite Building’ are preparing for the big switch on - and Santa himself will be there to flip the switch.

Saint Nick will be responsible for turning on over 10,550 warm-white fairy lights on the centre's 40ft tall tree - and we're already excited.

The build up to the big switch on will see an afternoon of festive activity including cocktail classes, bauble making, winter storytelling and festive face painting.  A festive performance by the Shine Music Theatre Group will also feature after the lights are turned on.

Shoppers are invited to meet in courtyard area at 3.30pm with lights switch on at 4pm on Sunday.

And while it is a much smaller scale event than the big n, the unveiling of decorations at the city centre mall always proves a draw come Christmastime - especially for those who missed out on getting tickets via theGeorge Square lights.

To find out more about the sparkling event, head to the official Princess Square Glasgow Facebook page.
