Holidaymakers need to be quick to snap up a bargain, travel expert warns

A travel expert has warned holidaymakers to be quick if they want to snap up a bargain holiday in places like Spain and Greece.

Flights and holiday prices had dropped for a while after months of travel band being in place.

But the fares are now expected to rise following a surge in demand for people craving some summer sun, the Mirror has reported.

British holidaymakers are now free to visit an approved list of countries where they will not have to quarantine on their return.

The destinations include Spain, Greece, Italy and France.

And, according to website TravelSupermarket, demand has increased since the restrictions have eased.

Demand for people wanting to go away in July has gone up by 17 per cent (week beginning June 22).

And those looking to escape to Costa Del Sol and Majorca has dramatically risen, according to Expedia.

Travel consultant Paul Charles, of The PC Agency, says fares for flights could increase for destinations like Spain because demand has increased.

He told the Mail on Sunday : "We have already seen the price of villas shooting up quickly, as people want space and privacy,' he said.

"There is a lot less supply for this. Airlines will be raising their prices as demand goes up.

"They are currently offering a raft of cheap deals to encourage people to travel because confidence needs boosting.

"But as more people start to book and confidence builds those prices will start to go up."
