Holiday park Bluestone invests £2m in new IT project to improve guest and employee experience

Pembrokeshire-based holiday park, Bluestone National Park Resort, is investing £2m to upgrade the digital technology used by employees and guests throughout the resort.

The short-break tourist destination near Narberth has partnered with Manchester digital agency Code Computerlove to rollout new systems to improve guest and employee experiences.

Guest bookings for food and beverage venues, shows and activities, and employee HR and recruitment systems are among the first areas being transformed as part of the major investment.

A new online careers portal is also being planned to promote career opportunities and allow online applications.

The investment follows a major staff survey conducted by Bluestone of its 700 employees last year to identify ways of improving work systems and processes.

Bluestone’s people services manager, Jess Rainbow, said: “The survey gathered some valuable information that provided insight into what worked and what didn’t, and this has helped develop a plan and roadmap which includes significant investment in our digital systems.”

In December last year the business launched a new employee app, developed by Vidatec, to share relevant information, staff news and updates in a social media format.

The firm said the Engage4 mobile app and desktop system has already resulted in greater engagement between employees, teams and senior management.

Michael Frampton, head of IT at Bluestone said the rollout was one of the largest IT projects undertaken by the tourist firm in recent years.

He said: “We’re investing heavily in our whole IT estate as part of the digital transformation. We will have a system capable of making our colleagues as efficient as possible in their day-to-day work, to ensure guests have a smooth online journey during their booking processes and the experiences they have with our team.”
