Holiday group snaps up a fourth North Wales caravan park

An expanding family holiday business has acquired its fourth caravan park in North Wales. SF Parks has taken ownership of Sun Valley Caravan Park, a 10.8 acre family-run site on the banks of the River Clwyd at Rhuddlan near Rhyl.

SF Parks is owned and operated by the Seldon Family and owns three other sites in North Wales. The latest deal was backed by HSBC UK.

The new site offers 185 holiday homes and a range of facilities including a family club house, a bar and game fishing on site. Following the acquisition, SF Parks will see its capacity increase from 1,000 to 1,200 caravans.

This will enable the business to further capitalize on the staycation boom that the industry has continued to experience in recent years and the acquisition will generate a 22% increase in turnover for SF Parks. This growth will see an increase of 11 employees.

SF Parks has further plans for expansion in North Wales that look set to bolster these growth figures further over the coming years. Jonathan Seldon, operations director at SF Parks, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Sun Valley Caravan Park to our existing portfolio. Like us, they are a dedicated family business with over 30 years experience in the industry.

"The funding from HSBC UK will facilitate immediate growth for the business and allow us to focus on enhancing our facilities to create the best possible experience for caravan owners and guests, who make such a vital contribution toward the local economy. We look forward to welcoming more visitors from across the UK and seizing further opportunities for expansion in the future.”

Jon Higginson, corporate relationship director at HSBC UK, said: “SF Parks is an experienced third-generation family business with a genuine passion for delivering memorable experiences for holidaymakers in the beautiful surroundings of Towyn. The impact of the pandemic on the sector was extremely difficult but it’s fantastic to see the business bounce back with the exciting addition of Sun Valley Caravan Park. We’re pleased to support the business with the acquisition and we look forward to seeing the growth born out of this synergy.”

Established in 1999 and run by Ronald Seldon and twin sons Jonathan and Oliver Seldon, SF Parks also parks in Towyn, Llandudno and Conwy. Meanwhile Sun Valley Caravan Park was established in 1991 by Adrian and Christine Townsend.
