Holiday flight delayed after passenger claims the wing 'clipped a fence'

A holiday flight was delayed after the aircraft seemingly clipped a fence.

Flight TOM2668 from Manchester to Palma reportedly hit a gate while pushing back for departure. (Saturday, September 7)

Passengers had to get off and return to the terminal, where they were given food vouchers.

One of then, Simon Finnegan, heard a crunch and saw engineers lower winglets from the aircraft.

He told the Manchester Evening News: " "There was a bit of a crunching noise, we just looked at each other and thought 'that's not promising'

"If it happened to your car you'd be expecting a big bill."

Tui has apologised for the incident.

A spokesman said: "This was due to a technical issue and the flight has now departed.

"We understand delays are frustrating for customers and thank them for their patience and understanding.”
